May was a very busy and productive month at Lisk. It was definitely our most active month in terms of conference attendance — in all, team members attended six conferences all over the world — Chainges in Amsterdam, WeAreDevelopers in Vienna, Consensus 2018 and Token Summit in New York, OFFF in Barcelona and BlockShow in Berlin. We met and made connections with hundreds of projects and individuals in the blockchain industry, and most importantly, presented Lisk to the world both on-stage and off-stage at our booths. We’re finally back and full of more energy than ever.

To complement this blog post, we’ve included the Lisk Vlog #3, which provides a visual recap of all the happenings at Lisk in May.

The Community Update for May will cover the following:

  • Company Update
  • Development Update
  • Marketing Update
  • Community Update
  • Next Steps

  • Last month, LiskHQ kicked off What’s Up Wednesdays — an informal, weekly Q&A round with the entire Lisk team. The sessions, which last about an hour, give team members a chance to ask one another anything work-related. The initiative was created to promote the highest quality of communication across teams.

Development Update

  • On May 24, Lisk celebrated the two-year anniversary of its mainnet. Since May 24, 2016, the Lisk network has processed over 1.7 million transactions — and all the while, not a single security issue or breach has occurred.

-Our new Foundation Page went live, where you can find the Lisk Foundation’s mission statement, timeline, and also get financials and the spending forecast.

-We also launched our new Press & Media Page, which contains our latest media coverage, fast facts and the Lisk media kit. The media kit contains essential Lisk assets such as official logo and illustrations as well as founder images.

  • Twelve members of the Lisk team gathered with virtually everyone in the blockchain industry under one roof at conferences Consensus 2018 and Token Summit in an effort to spread the word of Lisk and build connections.
  • We attended conference WeAreDevs, which simultaneously took place in Vienna; incredible figures in the blockchain industry were present such as Andreas Antonopoulos.
  • Lisk attended conference Blockshow in Berlin last week, where Max spoke on a panel discussion about blockchain education. While at BlockShow, Lisk was announced by the conference as one of the top leading companies on blockchain.
  • The Lisk Blog put out a number of blog posts last month, including an interview with contributing community member Hendrik aka Slamper for the Lisk Community Member Spotlight blog series. Community Update

  • Last month, Community Manager Jan announced a community giveaway for our dedicated North American community members. We will host similar giveaways in many more continents soon.
  • There was also a very successful Lisk meetup in Ottawa, organized by Adam and sponsored by Bloqspace in May.
  • Bloqspace also conducted the very first Lisk workshop in San Antonio last month. In addition, they hosted several Lisk meetups in the city in various languages like Spanish, Hindi and Farsi.
  • Regarding the anniversary of our mainnet, the best forger was cc001 and the best productivity thus far was shown by community member Carbonara. A big thanks to everyone who has supported and contributed to the project over the years!

Next Steps

  • We will continue to be laser-focused on delivering Lisk Core 1.0. Our developers are working extremely hard day in and day out.
  • This weekend, we are headed to and sponsoring JSConf EU 2018 in Berlin, self-described as the “labour-of-love conference for the JavaScript community in Europe”. As we stressed earlier, a huge part of the reason we are attending all of these conferences is to scout potential talent to join the team. We are still accepting applications for all our available positions, which you can find on AngelList.
  • On June 7, the Lisk Miami community will have its third Lisk Meetup, hosted by Lisk Mentor Matthew and Lisk USA. To RSVP for the event, click here.
  • Lisk is sponsoring Tech Open Air 2018 which will be held in Berlin from June 19 to June 22. Marketing lead Thomas will speak at the event. We will also have two booths on the exhibition floor, with several team members in attendance. The tech conference is expected to see a significant focus on blockchain.
  • At the end of the month, Thomas will also present a keynote speech and take part in a panel discussion at mega-conference Blockchain Expo Europe in Amsterdam. Last year, over 8,000 people attended, therefore we expect this year to be even bigger. Just before the conference, several Lisk team members will host two Lisk Meetups in the Netherlands — in Rotterdam on June 25 and Amsterdam on June 26. The venue, time and event details will be posted on our events page and Twitter as soon as they become available.
  • Just several days later on June 28, Max will be speaking at the conference Distribute 2018 in Hamburg.

It is going to be a jam-packed month and we’re looking forward to sharing all the highlights from these events and more on our social media channels.

Thank you again to our wonderful community for the continued support!

-The Lisk Team
