Reflection
This month was about my return to Dallas city hall. It’s taken me 8 years to find my way back to this place, and I think it came at the right time.
When I left the City of Dallas 2012, and ultimate Dallas altogether in 2015, I didn’t think that I would ever return. In fact, I did as much as possible to move as far away all the way to Alaska. But, after a few years away I felt myself missing the Big City Energy, the grandiosity, and the connection to place that I had with Dallas all along even though I vehemently rejected it because that’s how you treat your hometown, you rage against it, right?
It was also an awaking for me from a financial standpoint. I’ve really been studying and researching investing and how to set myself up long term. After 20-years of roaming the country, only to come back to the place I started, it only seems natural that I should invest in myself as much as I want to invest in the city.
I’m exploring Downtown again. It has changed a ton in 5 years. I’m tasting, literally, my way through it with a renewed sense of restaurantouring (made up word), because food is a great excuse to explore. And I’m basking in the grandiosity and sheer massive scale of Dallas. God I love Big Cities!
This month was such a great rebirth. I know it’s hard for a lot of people, and I definitely don’t take it for granted especially since I was on work hiatus for 9-months, but fuck am I jazzed about my new life!
In the coming months, you’ll see me invest myself more in Dallas. You’ll see more projects that I’ve been hiding away for rainy days, new takes on gov, and a reinvention of my urban practice. I have a pretty strong trajectory laid out, and a lot of plans are finally coming together.
Now that we are in the later half of the year, now that I am in gov again, and now that I am happy, I have some fun things to show you!
