Keeping your home clutter-free might seem like a nearly impossible task. It is amazing how quickly things can accumulate in even the smallest of spaces. Here are some tips to help you start eliminating clutter and working toward a clutter-free home.

Add Creative or Hidden Storage

Start looking into creative storage solutions that are out of sight. Having more storage for items that are not used daily can greatly decrease clutter. On countertops, try only keeping things that are used on a daily basis out and find an easily accessible place to store everything else.

Clutter Attracts Clutter

Start making places “clutter-free zones”. Once an area starts collecting clutter, the amount of clutter quickly grows. If you keep spaces clutter-free, it’s easier to clean and see what does not belong.

Give Everything a Place

If you have too much stuff to find everywhere a place, start eliminating the excess. Eliminating excess things will help with the overall clutter as well.

Have a Spot Near the Door to Place Things

This will be a spot designated for “in-the-door” clutter. Shoes, umbrellas, purses, coats, etc. This will keep all the random things in one place rather than scattered around. This will also make it easier to find things when you are looking for them.

Throw Stuff Away

And finally, one of the most important ways to declutter is to THROW THINGS AWAY. Old toiletries, broken electronics, clothes, and anything else that is no longer useful should be thrown away or donated.
