Apalachee on Our Minds
Just another day in the USA

Backpacks abandoned, pencils fall on the floor
If the walls could talk, what would they implore?
Those silent soldiers absorbing the screams and the fears
The floors won’t talk about the blood or the tears
The desks have been toppled — can you feel their dismay?
Chalkboard problems: unfinished, left in this disarray
Lockers don’t open, and doors remain closed
Some friends won’t be returning and everyone knows
Just another day of this screaming silence
Because they might lose votes if they talk of guns and violence.
