Execution at Babi Yar, by Felix Lembersky (Wikipedia Commons)

Walking the waiting time,
through long lost fields of bending corn,
as the backs of broken men,
under shady trees, spreading the darkness,
running streams as blood flows,
the place where nature knows what passed.
Forever burdened, no sunny day to bleach clean our souls,
of that done in the past foregone, and to our eyes unseen.
