alternatively
choked by the sea, left barren
by the clogging earth
survival hangs in
fine balance of salt water —
killer, life giver
roots metamorphose
into uber guardians
bulging in bluster
carefully screening
every(one/thing) that touches,
they hold life afloat
in a constricted
cage, breathing fear is preferred
over final end
