And it came to me,
Like a thief at twilight.

Hiding the sun
In a leather moon bag,
He jumps off the beach
As night falls on the sidewalk
To stand tall with the waves
Of cobblestone shadows.

Darkness is where the stars reside
So the pleasure is mine to steal,
he says.
With lips sealed in a kiss of death,
Nothing tastes sweeter than a pound of flesh
From the salt of the earth.

Doused in turquoise ocean spray,
The light in your eyes beam
Down your cheeks like
Tears of the sun,
In a leather moon bag.

Darkness is when the painful cry
In vain, for the nature of things unknown.
So the pleasure is mine to steal —
And I came to you,
Like a thief in the night.
