Follow Your Feelings. Or else.

You are on a mission.

We are born into a knot.

If you don’t get food into your mouth, you die. If you get too cold, you die. If your fragile body is shattered, you die.

And there is no second try. You remain dead.

Some say God wrote a book. They are wrong. He made a game.

It does not start so hard. If you are lucky. If your mother survived your birth. Once you get her breast into your mouth you suck it. And that just happens. You are designed to do that.

But it does not stay easy for long.

You have some serious leveling up to do before it is your turn to have a baby. And you must. If you don’t you lose. You become extinct.

Those are the stakes.

If we stopped there would soon be only old people. And after that only dead people.

You cannot win this game, only avoid losing.

Survive. That is your mission.

One more day.

It sounds easy. But it is not. If you moved around randomly you would fail. The odds of even getting one meal in your life would be… small. About as likely as having a mosquito fly into your mouth.

So you have a compass. It has a name.

Emotions.

They tell us what we need to do. If we are doing all right. If we are dying or surviving.

They come in two flavors.

The first says you are dying. Perhaps not at once and perhaps not literally. But you have needs. And they are unmet.

Needs are cyclic. They creep up on you. Until you must drink, must eat, must be with someone, must be alone.

The others says well done. You survived. Enjoy that nice taste.

The emotions tell you everything. They decide what is important.

They warn you of danger. They tell you to fit in. To demand justice. That you must find someone. The right one. The one to make a baby with.

And you must listen.

If you don’t. You become extinct.
