Poem
I Went Back Home
I dreamed in the land of Imagination
Until Science burned it down
Then Politics burned down Science
Thus it began
I wandered in the land of Identity
A lost traveler
Everything was reflected
Social designations determined by Committee
I turned inward in hope of Discovery
I recoiled at what I found
I dared not live there
I turned outward in hope of Recognition
Fame proved a fickle Companion
Ever elusive,
except to those who rued the day they found it,
and became its Slave
I swam in the waters of Institution
I struggled to stay afloat in an ocean of souls treading water
mistaking acceptance for living,
confusing abundance for Abundance
I looked to the Stars
The wonder of its vastness
It echoed silence in my bones
There was no Friendship
Only distance
I went back Home
