musings on entropy

what is entropy?

entropy measures disorder
. . . more disorder, more entropy
. . . less disorder, less entropy

nature decrees
. . . the universe evolves
. . . from less entropy to more entropy
. . . always

but if that is right —

why does the universe evolve
. . . from elements to stars and planets?
. . . from molecules to life?
. . . from bacteria to sentience?
. . . from nomads to nations?
. . . from hunter to philosopher?

why always
. . . from less structure to more structure?

is creation entropic?
is evolution entropic?

adaptation seems entropic
. . . natural

creation seems random
. . . sometimes entropic
. . . sometimes not

harmony is entropic
order without harmony
. . . isn’t

free will is an act of creation
. . . may produce harmony
. . . may produce order
order is not always harmony
. . . learn to know the difference

evolution is harmonious
driven by adaptation
. . . entropic
mutation is random
. . . like creation
disharmonious, non-entropic mutations
. . . don’t adapt
. . . and die

randomness is creation
randomness is chaos
. . . the actuating principle of reality
. . . where entropy is the rule constraint

randomness has to be non-causal
. . . else the rabbit hole goes deeper
. . . and what a wonder that would be!

ergo —

either, god is randomness
. . . creating
and reality is a random entropic journey
littered with choice and chance
. . . both random

or, we go through the looking glass
and find the prime mover

so einstein, pick one,
. . . dice or no dice?
