The past bleeds into the present
every memory of yesterday
painted across her thoughts

How it was difficult to get out
of bed that day

The taste of hot soup while
she lingered in the living room

The burning sunlight flooding
inside through the windows
before fading into dusk

A phone call from a friend
who she hadn’t heard from in a while…
