Lit Up Spring Prompt — Reality

She could skip along down the crowded streets, and greet the neighbours with exaggerated gestures. She could bargain with the cart sellers and smile when they agreed to her prices.

She could ring her friends up and get together at a moment’s notice. She could hug them, wind her arms through theirs, and enjoy a day out. She could sit next to them, shoulders brushing against each other and knees knocking together. She could share the same plate of food and the same cone of ice cream.

She could plan a vacation and escape without a care. She could twirl on her toes and match the wind with a whirlwind of her skirts. She could hop over the rocks unevenly jutting along the width of a river, and reach the other bank. She could bask in the sun with the prickly grass crushed under her weight, several blades caressing her face, arms and bare feet, which rocked back and forth to the tune of an unknown rhythm.

She could laugh louder than the thunders and talk faster than the rapids.

She could do it all even in the past two years because her reality was ensconced in these wistful words.
