this, I don’t know if I can call it a poem, is inspired, again, by Tasneem Kagalwalla’s poem:

I don’t know why, but it seems that some of her poems are calling me to respond. I’m not a poet, so this is the best I can come up with. hope you like it.

Silently we sit
And I pretend to read
Until our eyes meet
Longer than our hearts beat
Then you pretend to read
Longer than you did
Until our eyes meet
Longer than they did
I see you part your lips a bit
As if waiting for me to speak
But I pretend to read
And see how long we can stand it
This silence
These pages we pretend to read

And these eyes

Can’t wait to meet

Can’t read
