I’ve been so jumpy since that slithering snake
exposed himself to me, for heaven’s sake!
I jumped and screamed so loud my throat still aches.
I cringed, why must these evil things exist?

Upon the rug he writhed into a twist
and raised his head then flicked his tongue and hissed.
Uncoiling figure eights he crossed the floor,
then with my broom I whisked him out the door.
