Subtle colour

Emma Briggs
Sep 6, 2018 · 1 min read

Saturday and the sky is bright,
now the grey city seems not so bad.
I ride the red lanes beside the canals,
find a patch of grass in the sun,
watch as manic humanity passes.
The air is cold, the water swirls
with lime green life.
Black and white birds chatter and dance
with a flash of midnight blue.
It’s not my world but I am here
and when I take time to adjust my eyes
all the colours are too.
