the book of pain is a best seller,
i keep a copy

on my nightstand,
thumb through it every night;

always, i start at the end
& read it backwards.

i hear it is coming to Audible;
soon, i will be able to listen

to the monotonous male voice read
to me from it

& perform the last rites
over my lifeless remains.
