The Sound of Feet in Powder Snow

He heard the sound of feet in powder snow,
He thought of winters,
Of light music —
A house so warm,
Arms open wider than the sky,
The scent of sweet food,
The heartbeat of love,
The time was different —
He was not alone,
The sound of laughter,
The Christmas miracle unnoticed,
He’d let it go —
Now in the silence
He thought
He heard the sound of feet in powder snow.
