Vent

A million words
That had raged
Under the crust
Of a strange planet
Sought a vent
To pour out
Like gushing water
Touching all roots
That stood shriveled.

When magma wants
To heal the Earth
To be a river
A could-be volcano
Kills herself
And out flows
A hot geyser
For you to take
A holy bath.

I could make
An oasis for you
But you stay too far
My desert man
And you’ve so been burnt
By rocks and ash
That now you run
From all things warm.

And yet some day
We’ll surely meet
In engulfing cold
Devoid of words
Or memories that live
With lizard eyes
Looking through
And looking away
Before I disperse
In the final void.
