What if, we forget the ego and the indifference that comes with it.
Forget the million moments of shared laughter
And the many tears shed into the pillow.
Forget the hurtful words, the ones we mean
And the ones we lie that we don’t.
Forget the quiet, claustrophobic nights
And the morning routine that follows the snooze button.
Forget the silent accusations. And the loud ones.
And the half complaints and unspoken insecurities.
Forget the rainy morning of moving-in day.
And the countless moving-out nights.
Forget the first “Hi” on Facebook
And the last goodbye on the Answering Machine
Forget the heady aroma of the spices in the kitchen.
And their stains on floor, amidst the broken plates
Forget the midnight walks in the park
And the naked walks around the houses.
Forget the lies. Forget the truth.
And the dripping sarcasm in both.

What if we forget it all?
And meet for a cup of coffee.
