Your piece

Jonathan- dear boy!
Putting the pieces of ‘his’ model together
Dropped a piece, went rollin’ under the bed
No pushin’ and pullin’ would bring it back
(The motivation to move the bed he did lack)
Sought to bring a new piece in its stead
Took a new piece from mother friend ’n lover
Not quite the fit, but it stays in place!
Loose, but the model stands!

And fixed the piece in
(Dropped down the drain)
And fixed the piece
(Lost in the rain)
And fixed
(Time watched it wane)
’N the model wouldn’t stand…
It just wouldn’t stand
(Cuz no other piece would could fit!)

why
why
why

Years later before movin’ on
Shifted the bed and
Lo! Behold the fallen piece
Forgotten to time
(Forgotten to life)
No longer in its prime

sigh
sigh
sigh

(The model long lost
Long gone somewhere
Where he no longer knew
And could no longer say)
