A Dying Bird

A Poem

A dying bird once looked into my eyes
and in its death, it gave me life
because I saw how precious life was,
even to this bird that flew too wild
So wild that it couldn’t see
or only saw what it wanted to
until the end

We crossed paths for a reason
as I was lost in a spiral
of household ennui and procrastination
And this bird was flying
its little heart out just for fun
while I stared out my window,
waiting for the world to come to me

And it did, in the form of this dying bird
taking its last breath outside of my window
But in doing so, it gave me life again
and with this gift, I shall fly
