A Poem

A Flight takes its time
But the fall takes a moment
As an art takes days, months…
But a stab takes a moment.
You can run as fast and blind
Or limp through the desert unkind
But for the blaze of truth,
burning takes a moment.

Maybe, and maybe it’s true
That the darks don’t last
As for men of half the heart
Heroic endurance won’t last.
And you can revel and cry
In gathering with joy
But in the wake of noise
Remembrance takes a moment.

How to suffer how to rejoice,
And how to pay to life its price,
Or how to soar this wingless flight
In the splendor of a golden light.
I will not say I know
For all I know is
Life comes slow,
And ruin takes a moment…
