A Separation

Stop
Breathing
Thinking
Feeling
Stop
For a sec
For a sigh
To see the world
Slipping
From your sight

Pause
Hold your breath
What comes
What’s next
Don’t think
Don’t plan
There’s no bridge
To no-man’s land
No enemies
Nor fans

Close your eyes
Lay your head
On the table
There’s no
Comforting lap
No presence
You could cling to
No stories
No fables
No sponge
No glue

It’s not a slap
On your ego
Your self-worth
Your idea
Of integrity
It’s not the failure
Of an institution
Only a breakdown
A separation
Of two minds
Splitting in two
On the surface
And a million pieces
Inside

Thank you, as always, for reading. You might like to read this one too:
