Ars Longa, Vita Brevis

The Latin Quotes (III)

A poem, by Fọlábòmí Àmọ̀ó.

Inspired by the famous Latin quote by Hippocrates.

‘Ars Longa, Vita Brevis’ — ‘Art is Long, Life is short…’

Art is long,
Life is short.
A man can be killed,
But his idea never forgot.

A man can cease to exist,
But his work lives on.

At any moment,
Our time may come.
What would we be remembered for?

Art can be preserved.
A text, backed up.
But not the brain it came from.

Don’t be distracted,
Life is short.
Leave your mark.
Let your art do the talk
