Declension and Declination

A poem

At last you have receded
Behind the tree line
Of soft memories

Light years ago my dreams were around you
And revolved around you
Like a distant, little planet

Not clearly seen from
Earth-bound telescopes
And endless peering

I never did get a reply
When I asked for coordinates
Declination and right ascension

Maybe you felt some sorrow
That it was my first discovery
But not yours

But I just wanted you to know
That it is all nebulous now
Almost forgotten

And in a whisper of time
There will be nothing left
But a curiously dense core

Frozen in time
And unseeable
Right in the heart of our galaxy
