Every Time I See You …

You see me first thing every morning
And the last thing every night
My day always begins and ends with you
And I would have it no other way

You always have a tired look
When you show up at my door
But I like how I make you smile
And how fresh you feel after you see me

Every time you touch me
You hold and squeeze me tight
And when I touch your lips
I love how their soft touch feels

Days come and go by in a flash
But with every passing day
I feel weaker and thinner
And I feel less and less of you

One day you squeeze me too tight
And I feel my breath go away
After the last toothpaste comes out of me
Simply and carelessly, you toss me aside

Confused and dazed, I look up to see
You freshening up and smiling at another
I cry inconsolably and crouch in the corner
Feeling used, betrayed and empty
