Needing to do so urgently
There's an itch
within
all of us
It lingers
awaiting to exhale
emotionally
sensually
spiritually
needing to do so
urgently
like the first gush of spring's melting
flowing from its winter slumber
awakening old pathways
trying to remember
the sounds
we once so very treasured
At times
I want to breathe you in
enough to pass out,
not from a lack of oxygen
but to be overcome by it
only to be lost
in the ecstasy of exhale
with no desire to share
And I wonder
do I still retain a soul
your love having long left
Me
returning to broken
buried in that place
you left a hole
Its been an eternity
and still not a word spoken
Will you ever again
see that glitter in my eyes
or should I go on wearing
this foolish disguise
My insecurities
have been knocking
here to remind me
our clocks
have slowed
simultaneously
in their ticking
So many dreams
now scattered among the stars
look for me there
among the lost
and forgotten
Dry eyes
and steady hands
are the tools
used
when mending my scars
With
dry eyes and steady hands
stand
Point
with your left hand
across your heart
skywards
motionless
look up
eyes right
just beyond
your index finger
that’s where my soul
