So precious, water is!
It dwells and runs
In the lowliest of places,
Humbling itself before all elements.
Water follows the Tao!
Neither grasping, nor avoiding;
It gives itself up
To the laws of nature,
To Reality as It is.
Neither solely Cause,
Nor completely Effect,
Water accepts its True Nature
Void of wants and desires,
Dislikes and disgust.
Neither wholly pure,
Nor entirely impure,
Water is as It is.
It puts up no fight.
And yet, without it,
Life as we know it
Would not have arisen.

Life in all its glory
We would receive and, therefore, give
If only we were like unto water.
No other effort is necessary.
