In the Wilderness

In the wilderness I was tidy
My mess could not be swept

There was no invitation response
Waiting or undeleted

Like the dishes from three days

On the trail I left no space
For steps I didn’t tread.

By the river washed away,
By rain there was only then.

Decisions had no course to take
Credentials left unsung —

No photo ego blogging
Left lonely and unliked.

Consequences only of a heartbeat
Impermanence like the tide

Faded as an autumn petal
With nothing left to hide.
