The children long to see,
What appears as a forgotten memory.

Time that has no ending,
Days that have never begun.

It is a legend for legend's sake,
A dream of some creative soul,

Perhaps it may never come to be.

Starlight, Starbright,
Won’t you let it snow tonight

The rain may come and freeze,
Icicles hanging from evergreen trees,
but where is the promise of long ago,

The lost December snow.

The vision shared time,
and time again
white flakes falling from a gray sky,
coating all within man’s sight,
a fresh new look for a stale sight.

Christmas Eve may come and go,
with no promise of a December snow,

All the presents under the tree
Cannot equal the gift

of the lost December snow.
