Passion Fruit

Of a birth before time

There are lanterns swinging
in the wind,
a wind-chime singing along —
or metallic din —

Now, I bicker with my memories
of what was,
all I remember is aquamarine green
and stark white —

The fruit of passion was born
of our wedding night,
a flower bud, too petite
to be true —

I caress the only truth that
belongs to us,
ready to taste the fruit as such
and its accompaniments —

The juice of the choice
is enthralling.
She was a sapling, fallen early;
the knife I took was worth it.
