Quarantine

The little boxes that hold us
that frame us like
universal exoskeletons

Changes in the body
politics of defeat
& we don’t know the meaning
anymore
since no one really wins

The scolding of the disease
the reaching into the paths
of breath
& timing fixes everything
but the boxes we make

Stealing the circumstances
out of this
conversation

This is not dialogue:
this is a dispute
the coffee-maker v. the cup

& you change
some things
but most of life is left
in quarantine for you
