Sand

A fleeting poem
Like children we build sandcastles,
pouring sand upon sand,
searching for ourselves,
but remaining in the desert.
We seek what matters,
never knowing,
that sand in the desert,
is all that is good.
Built with faith,
sandcastles in the desert,
a monument to a time,
spent fleetingly upon this earth.
Time flows, grains trickle,
down dunes of sand,
sand upon sand,
and still more sand.
Edifices are built,
glorifying lives,
desperate for purpose,
scattered by the morning wind.
