Star-crossed

We are star-crossed maybe.
Not that we have dodged catastrophes
Or that we lie awaiting an impending doom
But just that we took different classes.
Made different friends.
And when the circles collided,
We chose different countries.
And who’s to say
If even a same timezone would let us
Have more than we’ve ever had.
We’re star-crossed maybe.
Again I know,
We’ve not seen something disastrous.
But we’ve just missed the pockets of time and space
which form the Universes where we are together.
And yes it’s just chance.
And chance is the most tragic way
Of losing love.
Just missing it narrowly.
There’s no adversity to overcome,
No challenge to be scaled,
Just the silent streets of a sleepy city
That they call ‘ oh! what could have been! ’
Yeah. We’re star-crossed maybe.
