Telling Off

A Poem

The burden you misplaced
now the subject of hot argument
Mouthing out the principles
taking the green dress
off the floor, out of the picture
Romance hasn’t set up here
in a long while
the crippled hammock
relegated to the composite ropes
reduced to its thread
and you crumple the letter that
had to say goodbye
