A Poem for Fearing Folk

The Grasshopper asks the Beetle,
“Why do you scare people?”
The Beetle smiles and coyly claims,
“Their Fear begets the prequel.”

(Enter Indecision Center Stage)

“Then why,” the hopper stoutly smirks,
“Do people fear our shape of birth?
If none are ageless over skies,
Do people fear the way we fly?
-Or deeper seeds doth sow?”

The Beetle preps for flight:
“Young Hopper, you are full of Youth,
Beauty in and Beauty out,
But don’t mistake the Fear of Man
For weakness; as a greater hand
May instigate the change of reason-
Passion grown, season to season.”

(Indecision flutters)

“So what you claim,
Is that I may-
Spread my wings without delay,
Never once be called a Liar-
Surfing life with Tongues of Fire
And own the rights to Day?”

The Beetle, lifts his magic wings;
Grimace-face with mask prepared,
Horns along the ridges dare
Instill the fright we cannot bear.

“Exactly, child, and now you see-
The world is nothing without thee.
Your presence makes the future bold,
The fear you pass creates the mold
Of which the Beetle-Mask-Effect,
Will shake the world from heaven’s breath!

And linger not- for I must Fly-
& Instill the fear that sequels need,
So the next Hopper can understand:
Fear is the Precipice of Man.”
