The Slight

Photo by Hernan Sanchez on Unsplash

Tacked to the bottom of the world
the pain that goes on taking
all your worth slips away
Asleep with the grass leaving white marks
on your cheeks
I arrive at my lost moment
& looking around find I cannot recognize
this map
Together & losing
we crawled the last few miles
I tried to embrace you through the glass
& hit my hands
& scraped my head
But now more begins with you
& for all that I have imagined this slight
I have made my own
& not kept my word/ to myself
