A short story by Wild Flower

“And now we rest” said the universe.

“But..but I have so much inside.. so much to say” she replied with a clenched fist and droopy lip.

“I know dear one but it’s time you listened a little”.

“Let your inner ears guide you”.

“There is a faint rhythmic humming in the distance. . do you hear it”?

She paused and huffed a little looking down at her right hand, swollen and sore from a freak injury whilst training earlier in the day.

“Not your eyes, your ears! now please listen, really listen”.

Reluctantly she walked to her healing space, placed herself on her meditation cushion where she began to take deep in breaths, followed with slow out breaths.

As her lungs emptied on her out breath she began to release tension.

As her body relaxed, the pain started to melt away. Her eyes were closed now as she shifted all thoughts into the ether.

She watched her thoughts float gently in cloud like figures above her.

Separated now, she felt weightless.

Faint sounds of traffic drifted into the abyss, merging with the crickets evening calls.

Her heartbeat was calm, inviting her mind to join.

No longer fighting with herself she merged with the floor beneath her.

All that remained of her now was the simple rise and fall of her chest.

“ Yes I can hear it” she whispered in reply.

This piece was inspired by Garnet who kindly suggested I try a short story.

I am enjoying the process thanks G :)
