Wide Wings
A poem

I stand on Main Street, the bus will come soon,
my life in the bag I hold in my hand.
A journey away to life’s next regret.
Wild love, passion gained, a roof and a bed,
till a kiss from whisky lips turns to bruised eyes,
and I stagger away to the next shoreline of pain.
A bird with wide wings soars above,
fleeing, like me, to warmer climes.
