A New Dawn: The Lition Mainnet has Arrived

Announcing the launch of the Lition Energy Mainnet and Sidechain Protocol.

--

The long-awaited moment has arrived.

We are proud to announce that today we officially launched our sidechain protocol and the Lition Energy Mainnet is live — showcasing our first business use case!

We are also very happy to share that the IBFT consensus issue outlined in our previous developer update has been resolved.

This launch marks a significant milestone in our mission to empower businesses around the world with legally compliant enterprise-ready blockchain solutions.

A Message From Our CEO

On behalf of the entire Lition team, I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who has helped us achieve this important milestone in enterprise blockchain. As our mainnet launches and begins to take shape, we realize we have something truly special here. We are very grateful to our community, employees, partners, and TrustNode operators. Thank you for sticking with us, and we look forward to sharing this next chapter with you.

– Lition Founder and CEO Dr. Richard Lohwasser

Our Journey

In April of 2019, Lition set out with the vision to build a public-private blockchain infrastructure with deletable data features that would be capable of serving as a cornerstone for enterprise and client-facing blockchain use-cases.

Our original goal one year prior was to utilize an existing blockchain for our P2P energy trading platform. However, we quickly realized that we weren’t satisfied with any of the available options.

There were many interesting blockchain solutions to choose from but each had drawbacks when it came to either speed, security, scalability, or fees. We were also faced with the task of European data protection regulations (GDPR) compliance. This was a challenge that no other platforms were ready to address at the time. At least not in a manner we believed would remain agile and adequate enough to keep up with the developing German and European Union legislation.

These factors led us to the decision to build our own public — private blockchain infrastructure that allows for consumer data to be deleted upon request — a “hybrid” blockchain, which combines what we believe to be the best aspects of private and public blockchains for enterprise use cases.

It’s been a memorable journey full of twists and turns. Despite some unfortunate setbacks and delays, we never wavered or stopped working towards our goal.

Now, thanks to the tireless efforts of the development team, and the continued patience and support from our community, Lition is now set to make history with the release of our sidechain protocol.

This will be followed by many exciting announcements about business development, partnerships, use-cases, and much more.

Lition Sidechain Protocol & Lition Energy Mainnet

After months of work around our technology we are very proud to present our sidechain solution. One of the main development tasks during this time was the IBFT consensus issue, which deserves a mention here. The problem has been properly addressed and all testing since has gone exceptionally well. We can now say, thanks to our brilliant Dev Team, that we have thoroughly solved the bug and can now move forward and focus on the next steps in our journey.

Our sidechain protocol is now available for any third-party business that wants to launch and take advantage of our technology. Many updates are coming during the next weeks to have a full feature stack to build on. We now have a strong technology that is the fundament on which we implement top notch functionalities custom made for our clients. We will soon share some remarkable news around this!

Here you can find our previous testnet with external community nodes, despite stressing the system, it is up and running to date and has over 500k blocks and ~50 transactions per minute. Depending on the needs of the business or user, the transactions can be scaled to at least 50k transactions per minute without any problem, this was tested in a safe environment and can easily be implemented. Further tests will be done to reach even higher gears.

Today is also the official launch date of our Lition Energy Mainnet. We are excited and proud to share this news. We couldn’t choose a better day as yesterday we were named as the winner of the 2020 Digital Top 50 award, one of the most prestigious tech awards in Europe, and this is the best way to celebrate.

While migrating and synchronizing our transactions for the energy use case, we will increase the decentralization and security of our network by adding over 100 nodes. A very special thanks to all our Node operators.

What’s next?

  • Launching enhancements and new features to increase usability and security to allow for more complex use cases.
  • Migrating energy transactions and real commercial, production data from customers in over 1000 towns and cities across Germany.
  • Continue to strengthen our network of nodes — 100+ -.
  • Shifting focus to implement our technology into new businesses.
  • Begin customizing, and then launch, an additional sidechain for an upcoming partnership with a new use case early in Q4.

Be Part of Lition by Joining our Network as a Validator

The Lition Energy Mainnet is now live here:

To grow our network of validators while ensuring its stability we aim to onboard 100+ nodes throughout the course of early Q4. To take part in this process apply to join as a validator using this form.

To ensure a smooth onboarding process we will verify and accept new applications on a weekly basis. Once your application is accepted you will receive information on how to setup your server and join the network.

If you have already applied as a validator during the test phase, please complete this form nonetheless. To show our gratitude towards the early supporters, we will prioritise your applications.

We’re Just Getting Started

Despite our mainnet just getting underway, we’ve already developed key strategic partnerships that will be integral in executing our vision going forward.

  • TomoChain
  • EMINENT Task Force
  • EEA
  • SAP
  • INATBA
  • SalesForce
  • And more

This is just the beginning. Lition has the potential to transform the enterprise world, and the truly memorable events are yet to come.
Indeed this is an exciting time for all of us but the launch of Lition’s mainnet was never the end goal

You can expect more updates in regards to our existing partners as we shift focus to implementing our tech into new businesses. We’re also developing new important partnerships, pilots, and customers. We look forward to revealing much, much more.

Over the next 6–8 weeks, we will share our updated roadmap, key initiatives for the upcoming quarters, new partnerships and updates on existing ones, AMA(s), and other ecosystem development initiatives.

Until then, we’d like to send a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of you for your incredible support.
