Our co-founder and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sam Volchenboum recently co-presented at Google Cloud Next with University of Chicago’s Dr. Michael Howell on sensitive data management for collaborative research clouds. The are two critical components of improving the pace of discovery in healthcare. The challenge we face now is successfully combining disparate data streams and managing the privacy of data.

Privacy of healthcare data continues to slow down pipelines and create both personal and organizational risk. The cumbersome truth about healthcare data is that it’s incredibly disparate, and hidden in offices, computers, and even pagers.

Better de-identification and analytics will speed up healthcare discoveries and improve health and patient outcomes.

However, the first step is standardizing the data we collect and breaking down the silos of information that are stored in computers, machines, pagers, and office filing cabinets.

Litmus Health plays an important role in the huge task of creating better systems to combine, store, and use health data. However, the healthcare industry as a whole needs to move towards better de-identification and collaborative data management. Lives depend on it.

To hear more about how the University of Chicago and our own Litmus Health are transforming the way we manage health data, watch the talk at Google Cloud Next below.
