When you first hear anime you may think This is most likely just for kids. Really, anime is not just for kids. You see, anime is described as “A style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children.” The reason why most anime is aimed at adults is because there can be some vulgar language, mild nudity, and sexual topics. But, there are still many PG anime that are acceptable for children viewers.

Many American adults watch anime instead of typical American TV shows. It can be humorous and entertaining to watch. Anime, can indeed, be educational. It can introduce you to the traditional Japanese culture. Sometimes an anime includes footnotes in the Japanese writing. Typically, if you are obsessed with this genre you are deemed as a “weeaboo.” And no, not dweeaboo, as my dad would say. A weeaboo can be described as someone who worships pretty much anything that is Japanese or related to Japanese culture. The implication is very negative and often is an accusation of wanting to ‘be Japanese’. Being a weeaboo is actually not necessarily bad, in some cases. At a Comic Con being a weeaboo is actually encouraged in that type of situation. I, myself, am considered a weeaboo.

The cast of Sailor Moon.

There are many humorous and entertaining anime like, Sailor Moon, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, Aggretsuko, Ouran Highschool Host Club, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Inuyasha, and many many more animes. Personally, my two favorites are Sailor Moon and Ouran Highschool Host Club. Sailor Moon is a very laughable anime. In the show, there is a young girl, Usagi Tsukino. She is the main protagonist in the show. She soon finds a talking cat named Luna. Luna sneaks into Usagi’s bedroom and tells Usagi about her being a sailor guardian. Luna gifts Usagi a magical pendant that makes her transform into Sailor Moon. As Sailor Moon, she must defeat evil all around the city. Usagi soon discovers that she is a reincarnation of Princess Serenity, ruler of the Moon Kingdom. Usagi bands together a few of her friends, soon discovering that they are Sailors too! Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Venus, Sailor Pluto, Sailor Uranus, and Sailor Chibi Moon are all part of the crime fighting gang. They work together, fighting evil monsters from the Dark Kingdom. Tuxedo Mask is Usagi’s acquaintance in the first episode. From then on, he helps Usagi fight crime as she is Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask soon become Usagi’s love interest.

There are also some serious and grim anime like, Attack On Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, Tokyo Ghoul, and Death Note. Anime is not always for children. It can be for all ages, really.
