Standing barefoot at his art gallery’s entrance, I was in Loíza. Looking down at my feet, bringing his eyes to meet mine, hola, estás sola? Sí, I smiled, thinking he was the artist’s assistant. Entering that eclectic space surrounded by sculptures and silkscreens, paintings, plants, and African artifacts, I found him. Samuel’s artwork reflects nature, bomba traditions, the Divine Feminity.
