Are They Made of Stupidity, Lies, or Trickery?

They say stupid is, as stupid does, but is every flying monkey low on brain cells and deceived by the narcissist? It would sure be nice if we had a blood test so we could determine who is a narcissist and who isn’t. It would also help to be able to tell a true flying monkey from those who are just plain confused.

Origin of the Term

The term “flying monkey” comes from the Oz books by L. Frank Baum. Oz became famous in 1939 when the movie The Wizard of Oz became a big hit. The crisis appears when the Wicked Witch of the West unleashes her diabolical flying monkeys to attack and destroy Dorothy and her friends.

Today you can find multiple memes about flying monkeys on social media where they have become an icon of revenge. One of the most popular states — “Just wait ‘til I unleash my flying monkeys.”

Some people might find such memes humorous, but bullying isn’t funny. Any time someone tries to force another person’s will, they are making a narcissistic move. Just as the “Wicked Witch of the West” sent her flying monkeys to terrorize Dorothy, a narcissist will extend their arm by recruiting people to put pressure on the person they can’t control.
