About Helping Hands Development Center

Established — 2009

Headquarters — Tanzania

Operational Regions — Kibosho, Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Charity Scope — Education

“HHDC envisions a Tanzania that provides its children with safety, education and hope for a better tomorrow.” — Co-Founder Nelson Chami

Helping Hands Development Center is working in Tanzania to establish a school for students who would otherwise not have access to a free education. They want to create a place where kids not only love going to school, but somewhere that children feel safe, confident, and optimistic for the opportunities open to them. In most regions of the world, this isn’t an issue because of government funding, but for many families in Tanzania and other developing countries in Africa, education isn’t free and safety isn’t a guarantee.

Helping Hands School is one of a select group of schools within Tanzania is attempting to offer its students a free education that does not include hidden fees for uniforms or meals that may limit families from sending their children.

They rely on donations and volunteers to run the school and provide meals and transportation to and from school. Donations go towards assisting the growth and expansion of extracurricular programs, as well as providing equipment and food for the children.

They work with volunteers to aid in their student’s education experience by facilitating the implementation of activities that students wouldn’t otherwise have access to, such as athletics and music and English language skills. They envision a Tanzania that provides a western style education; including music, sports, core subjects and language learning.

Little Phil has a Global Reach

Little Phil has strategically pinpointed amazing charities both locally and internationally to begin early testing. Having this global reach means we can comprehensively test and scale our platform to suit different types of charities among a variety of cultures, whether they’re a small charity helping the local community or international non-profit with multiple projects on the go
