Getting our feet wet

My wife and I knew we wanted to do a side project together. We both have a caring and creative mind. We both come from separated families. We value the need for communication, imagination, inspiration, and support.

We aren’t parents but in the near future we see ourselves being godparents or an aunt and uncle to many little ones. My wife wanted to making something with her hands. I wanted to direct and manage a brand. What we came up with is a retail company brand for parents and kids called Little Sea & Me.

This is our wave.

Aly, my wife, loves the water. I, on the other hand, fear the water. As a kid we both embraced stuffed animals for comfort — whether it’s a for joy or fear. There’d either be nights where, as a kid, we’d rush to our room to get or grasp our stuffed animal friend or days when we just want to spend time with them.

Our stuffed animal was our friend that we could always trust, wonder with and get us to sleep.

So we thought why not make a stuffed animal with an emphasis on the sea. This stuffed sea animal would be a little piece of the sea for a child. The sea is also very vast just like our world and everyday life — especially felt as a kid. And the me portion? Well we wanted to get personal. We want the kid to know this stuffed sea animal was made for them when they’re happy and sad.

We also knew the parents need to be part of their kid’s life. The divorce rate is still high and many parents just don’t feel connected to their kids anymore.

It’s a challenge we wanted to take on: to provide comfort and understanding for both the parent and kid while encouraging wonder and conversation.

Making the stuffed sea animal is coming soon. But, no matter what we make or do we just want to bring parents and kids closer together.

We’re just getting our feet wet.
