We had the pleasure of working with the Ak-Chin Indian Community of Maricopa, AZ, to design the Ak-Chin Indian Community Library Read & Roll BookBike

Basic overview

The Ak-Chin Indian Community Library, based in Maricopa, AZ, is a vibrant part of the Ak-Chin Indian Community. They came to us looking for design and practical development support for a mobile library solution.

We got it done:

  • Original illustrations
  • Applied design
  • Implementation guidance

Opportunity

When the library decided to create a mobile library solution using a bicycle to distribute books and accept drop-offs, they knew they wanted it to be more than just a box on a bike. Our challenge was to develop a visually appealing yet practical solution to meet their needs.

Solution

We had a wonderful time working with them to create a striking mobile library bike attachment with friendly appeal. The Ak-Chin Indian Community Library Read & Roll BookBike featured handcrafted illustrations designed to complement their vision and voice.

Reading, rolling & ready to hit the road

This project stuck out to us as a favorite because of the meeting of form and function. While much of our work focuses on the digital space, we love creative physical design projects like this one. And who doesn’t love a community library?

These days, this is the kind of small yet exciting project we work on with the design fellows of 400 Level, giving them the opportunity to stretch their wings under our guidance.
