This is a complete step-by-step guide to using the Liv Smart Home App.

Getting Started [0:04]

1) Create an account
Once you have installed the Liv app, create an account by opening the app and signing in with Google, Facebook, Twitter, or your email address

2) Read the Welcome Guide
The introduction slides will introduce important buttons and features

Create Your Home [0:46]

The “Settings” tab is where you create and name your new Liv home

  1. Create a new home
    Go to the “Settings” tab at the bottom right corner and click “New Home”
  2. Name your new home
    Type in a name for your home and click “Create” in the top right corner

Home invitations [1:11]

The invitations tab in “Settings” is where you accept access, and give other Liv users access to the controls of your smart home

  1. Sending an invitation
    In the “Settings” tab, select “Sent Invitations” and click “Send New Invitation”. Enter the recipients email and select which home you want to share access to. Click “Send”.
  2. Accepting an invitation
    To accept a home invitation, go to the “Settings” tab and click “My Invitations”. Click to view and accept any pending invites.

Connecting Devices: New Device Brand [2:03]

  1. Select your home
    In the “Settings” tab, select the home you wish to add devices to
  2. Select the brand of device
    In the “Build” tab at the bottom of the screen, click on “Add/Remove Devices” and select the brand of the device you want to connect
  3. Install and setup manufacturer’s app
    Follow the brand-specific instructions that will appear on your phone. Download the manufacturers app using the link provided. Create an account and add your devices through the manufacturer’s app
  4. Connect manufacturer’s app to Liv
    Enter your log-in credentials (username and password) from the manufacturer’s app and enter them into Liv. Once a device has been connected successfully, the “Connected” indication will appear underneath the brand name

For each new brand that you have not connected, repeat steps 1–4 above

Connecting Devices: Additional Devices of a Connected Brand [3:19]

  1. Add additional device to the manufacturer’s app
    Open the manufacturer’s app and add your additional device
  2. Tap on the device brand
    In the Liv app, go to “Add/Remove Devices” and tap on the brand that you are adding devices to
  3. Tap “Add Devices”
    A pop-up will appear, indicating that you are already connected. Tap “Add Devices” on the pop-up and they will be added to Liv

Configure Devices [3:46]

New device intigrations may take a few minutes. If the app is not connecting to your new devices, follow the steps below

  1. Restart the app
    Close the app and reopen it
  2. Configure devices
    If the device does not connect after restarting the app, go to “Configure Devices” in the “Build” tab and follow the step-by-step instructions that appear on your phone

Controlling Devices [4:02]

  1. Device categories
    Each connected device is categorized by device type. Your most recently used devices will appear at the top
  2. Turning devices On and Off
    To toggle a device On and Off, tap on the device icon. When a device icon is WHITE the device is OFF. When a device icon is BLUE the device is ON
  3. Additional device features
    Press and hold the device icon to access complex features for applicable devices, such as coloured light bulbs and media players
