The Name
Your name is very important. Although it’s just a word or set of words by which a person or thing is known, it represents who you are.
Psalm 7:10
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Those who know your name
When I think about names two things come to mind. Someone’s name refers to their character. When we named our children we gave them names which had meaning we wanted to see them display in their lives. Our daughter’s name is Zoë, meaning life. Our sons name is Archer, the ‘one with a steady hand who hits the target’. Whenever we call them by name we are calling out who we know them to be.
Secondly when we know someone by name it means we’ve met them personally. We know them because we’ve shaken hands, embraced and shared experience. Their name carries significance for us because it represents a person whom we know.
When we know the Lord by name it means we have met Him and we have history with Him. His name represents his character which we’ve enjoyed and experienced. It’s s personal knowing of his name. It means something significant to us!
Trust in you
Those who know His name, trust in Him. To trust someone means to believe them. To put our trust in someone means that we rest confidently in what we expect from them because of the past experience of their faithful name or character.
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Our trust is based on our personal experience of God’s faithfulness to us.
