iPad mini A17 Pro with a Nikon Zf.

Fans of the iPad mini have been waiting for this day. Thanks to the A17 Pro chip, USB-C connectivity, and support for Apple Pencil Pro and Bluetooth keyboards, photographers can now carry a powerful, super compact workstation that fits in practically any camera bag. They can leave the laptop at home and edit pictures with this 8" tablet that weighs just a smidge over half a pound.

Half a pound! Most of my lenses weigh more than that.

Yes, that’s the new iPad mini tucked next to an OM System OM-1 mirrorless camera in a Think Tank i25 Mirrorless Mover camera bag.

If you haven’t edited your pictures on a tablet before, there are a couple of adjustments. The most obvious is the smaller screen. The editing apps I discuss in this article are designed for less real estate, which helps. But if you’re used to working on a 15" computer screen or bigger, allow some time for your visual recalibration.

The other biggie is using your finger or an Apple Pencil to point, click, and drag. This change was easy for me because it feels natural in a Kindergarten finger painting sort of way. But everyone is a little different.
